Feeding the Monster

When I first learned about some of the ways various forms of cancer can advance throughout the body, I was a little leery.   I always envisioned cancer as this mysterious, unpreventable disease; not thinking that the modern Westernized diet is cancers' breeding ground.  I recall hearing about a woman, who when diagnosed with a cancer, completely revolutionized her diet to nothing but vegetables, fruits, certain nuts, and grains.  After only months of trying the new diet and with minimal treatment the cancer went into complete remission. One day, the woman decided she was going to fry some chicken; a nostalgic treat to herself after reaching a healthier lifestyle and defeating an often-terminal illness.  Within weeks the cancer returned and the woman died.  She essentially encouraged the dangerous cancerous cells that were dormant in her body to be revived...and it killed her.

If you ever get a chance, I think you would find it very humbling and uplifting to visit a children's hospital or medical wing.  You may be horrified by the sights of some of the hairless, thin kids who are struggling to just stand up out of bed.  But after speaking with a few, you may be encouraged to conquer the world; or at least your world.  Because after many sick-and-shut-in visits, both to children and adults, I find the only difference is the resilience of the children.  Many would accredit the bright demeanor and outlook of the kids as them not having the full knowledge of the danger of the disease they have.  And while that is true, it is completely effective.

Jesus tells us in Luke 18:17 that unless we receive the Kingdom of God like a little child, we actually won't get in.  This means that if our attitude is one of skepticism regarding who Christ says He is, we can cancel extraordinary living on earth and eternal life in heaven.  Even further, child-like acceptance isn't based on a bunch of scientific research or data; nor is it based on a professional or personal affiliations' opinion.  It is purely trusting and affirming that the source is official.  And oddly, many of the sick children I see appear to have a better grasp of "by His stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5)" than the [sick and healthy] adults I know.

Temporarily ill individual, perhaps your condition is prolonged because you encourage it to stay.  Possibly, it's done by you filling your vocabulary with words that give weight to a a person who practices medicine for money.  Or maybe you do it by shunning the God-following individuals that boldly direct you to speak healing in your life.  What ever method you use, you are feeding the monster of death.  However, it is never too late to get to know Jehovah Rapha (the Lord my Healer - Exodus 15:26) to obtain what is rightfully yours, which is the abundance of life the Jesus Christ (John 10:10).

Peace
