Something that has been pretty amusing to me over the last 4 or 5 years is the notion that Brooklyn-based MC Jay-Z is the devil, Illuminati, even the anti-Christ. The first humorous thing about this is that our people saw Jay-Z as that important. Another point of chuckle revealed to me is that it's obvious many people who hold this opinion haven't been listening to him over the past 15 years; and might be making these outrageous accusations based on his recent popularity and visual presence. Actually, Jay Z has been denouncing God and Christ since his first major release in 1996 titled Reasonable Doubt ("and even if Jehovah witness bet He'll never testify" - Da Evils) and every album since. Yet because he didn't have MTV and later BET fame, few people noticed or cared. Still with those lyrics and countless others, we can only assume he really feels that way, as there is a possibility that he may be referring to the millions who practice this lifestyle by actively refusing the Lord (those of and not of the church). But as the cliche's go, MCs are reporters of the affairs of the 'hood. And with the globalization of hip-hop, they are now reporters of the affairs of the planets' general public. And I think we have to give it to the New York native that nicknamed himself one of the names of the Lord (Jay Hova) for pointing out once again the spiritual struggles of mankind; black or white, rich or poor--even if he is talking about his own issue.
Jay-Z along with Chicago MC and producer Kanye West, explore these issues on a record called No Church in the Wild (Watch the Throne, 2011). Over a well written chorus from Los Angeles-by-way-of-New Orleans artist Frank Ocean, these gentlemen adequately dive into the issue of an individual not being able to attain the knowledge of Christ--who is love; when everything in and around their existence, possibly themselves included--is hate. But before you (the word 'you' used figuratively from here on) get all why-is-Terrance-listening-to-that-type-of-music-anyway on me, reason with ya' boy.
More than likely you don't personally know either of these artists. As a matter of fact, I am aware of only one reader who is six-degree related to Jay Z; and the experience of that relationship is far from pleasant. But you do know your co-worker, your family member, your child, or yourself who also is confused about who God really is. Even more so, instead of reaching out to this individual to encourage him to Christ as Christians should, you may chastise or accuse him or her for evil thoughts as the Pharisees (anti-Christlike) did. Meanwhile this person (maybe yourself) dies. My dear brothers and sisters in Jesus, try not to get mad at the idol worshipper for telling you what other idol worshippers feel; especially when your heart knows their feelings are skewed from past pains and carnal education. Instead, teach about the love of the Son as commanded in Matthew 28:20. Because the reality is that they need you.
See, you may not be aware of this, but as I write battle lines are being drawn between those who will roll with Christ and those who will roll with the world. Look and listen, all forms of secular music have integrated in their works subject matters and the pleasure of those subject matters that directly oppose God's Word. Adultery is flying rampant in each area of society on Earth. Fornication and homosexualism is being encouraged to the masses and being tolerated in the church. The crumbling economic systems are persuading many to earn money with immoral methods by the hundreds of thousands. This doesn't mean that the world is going to hell in a hand basket (in a sense), it just means that the lines of right and wrong are becoming blurry to some and clear to others. Because of this, now is not the time to turn a blind eye or ear to the those around you; or more importantly, yourself. Right now you have to decide what side you are on. And if you are not honestly walking on Christ's side....
Enough of that. If you are unsure where you stand, you can holla at me and I can help you see where you should be. No judgment or condemning, because I vividly remember who I used to be and who I can still be if I don't keep God numero uno. If not me then get with a minister (not necessarily a preacher) that knows and lives by the true Word and can make it clear to you, so you can do the same for yourself and then others. But please understand there are plenty of things that some preachers and the world will tell you that it's cool and the Bible doesn't confirm their opinion--so some stuff realy must go. Also understand that I'd rather you carry me behind me praying with or for you than you having to deal with the Tribulation Period. It is of great importance to me you can see the deception that is infiltrating the human race so you will not be deceived and left here to attempt to survive.
You best believe...there will be war.
Peace
