Era of Innocence

I don't think it was even a year ago when I was in a barber shop, - participating in a football conversation - when the comment "before you know it, they'll have nothing but pansies in the League".  Now this statement was made in response to rule changes to protect offensive players in the NFL, but what was roughly being said was because of the rules against the violence of the game it's only a matter of time before gay [soft, feminine, and homosexual] people are the only ones playing professional football.  Well folks, without assuming that Micheal Sam is soft, that time is here.

I'm sure by now we've all heard that Michael Sam, former linebacker for the University of Missouri football team, has come out to announce to the world what gender of people he likes to have sex with.  He (and his public relations team assisted by the NFL and ESPN), felt it necessary to announce this information due to whispers about his sexual orientation circulating about.  Ironically, this comes at a very opportune time for the National Football League as the intent to ensure the general public knows that football is a year-round sport is in full throttle.

Make no mistake about it, factions of the NFL, sports media, and the federal government have planned this from the moment Sam mentioned it to his Missouri Tiger teammates.  He's actually a very good player (I hope my Raiders consider getting him in the second round) and most everyone knew he was going to go pro.  And with this great prospect on the field, who exemplifies a lifestyle that many media and NFL corporate giants either sympathize with or participate in; as well as a lifestyle that corresponds to huge voting numbers, and with America's current pastime as the backdrop for it all, it's a win for them.  For those guys it's a chance for America to finally "let them in" as normal citizens.  But in reality, it's yet another way Satan has deceived in order to minimize the truth of sin.

Can you guess how many Christians play or played in the NFL?  Hundreds.  Yet when we talk Christianity and football, only Tim Tebow comes to mind.  I've come to believe that this was done to publicly (but discreetly) mock followers of Jesus - because Tebow was a college superstar with two National Championships and was very vocal about his lifestyle.  But he wasn't that good in the NFL - and if Mr. Jesus Man is delusional about his professional skill set, then it can be strongly assumed that he's the same way concerning Jesus, and this is the mental status of all Christians.  Adversely, when Believers such as Russel Wilson, Kurt Warner, Reggie White, and others are profiled; their faith is not a promoted issue in major media market, even though they are nearly equally as vocal about their walk with Christ.  But that would give some validity to being successful with Christ despite the odds; and frankly, hardcore Christians don't pay for many of the NFL's trinkets.  But the goal for the Satan is not to exalt Christ, it's for man to exalt himself.

There can be a debate on whether practicing homosexuals who profess to believe in Jesus Christ will live in heaven for eternity.  But whether or not homosexual ism is a sin is not debatable.  Yet the climate (as one sports reporter that I spoke with put it) is right for this...for non-believers to aggressively challenge biblical facts, and sway Christians to do the same.  And that's what this is, what Michael Sam really represents.  Mr. Sam is not the poster child for gay rights, but the rights for the vileness of man to first be operated, then tolerated, then celebrated.  And I'm not sure that Michael Sam knows it, but Satan does...even if his millions of followers would tell you it's all in the line of civil rights.  And just like the other atrocities in the world, his evil spirit is behind all of this.  Still, because we Christians, who hold the keys to stop all this, don't concern ourselves with such matters, or because we believe the lies about speaking against demonic prevalence (i.e. don't judge), we don't care what your sin is....even if it's murder, physical abuse, stealing, cheating, or being gay.  Just get my team to the playoffs without killing any dogs.
