Spirit Architecture

My wife and I were hanging out in the Wynn Resort-Las Vegas last week, just taking in the scene.  We came up on this sculpture of what happens to be my wifes' favorite flower, the tulip.  It was nothing short of magnificent, while still having a sense of simplicity that was pure class.  The bright colors, the smooth lines, and the size made it a clear attraction (like everything is in Vegas).  So while we and a few others surveyed the piece, I slid over to the suit who was watching us watch the work.

"Excuse me, sir.  How much is this piece?"
"Uh, about $35 million dollars if you round it off."
"$35 million?!  For this?!"
"Well, that's what Mr. Wynn paid for it."
"So what did the artist get?"
"I don't know.  I guess when you consider the shipping and all, probably most of it.  He's got another sculpture of Popeye down that way.  That one's $28.5."

Now, I had been having numbers and production conversations all week so I wasn't floored (this time).  But I was yet again reminded of the relationship between spirit, belief, creation, and result.  I mean, you've got Jeff Koons expressing himself in his own artistic way...being creative...being himself.  His use of steel and mirror finish is his passion; and he's as dedicated in it for it to be considered an extension of his life.  Yet I don't believe that he does any of these works with a million dollar asking price in mind.  I believe he does it for the love of art and for the pleasure of the art-lovers eyes.  Just so happens some of those art-lovers has millions to purchase his work.  But ultimately, Jeff Koons sees a work in his spirit, and then someone buys that work for $35 million.

I'm not sure if Mr. Koons is a man of God, but he's got the principle that The Lord God has been trying to share with His people for centuries....everything is created...and destroyed...in the spirit.  God, who is spirit, saw the entire universe before anything existed.  So then, when He said "let Us create man in Our image, according to Our likeness" in Genesis 1:26, I don't believe He was talking about physical characteristics like hands and feet.  Instead, He was speaking of the spiritual abilities of believing and speaking creation.  And so you have a Benjamin Banneker, who first saw Washington D.C. in his spirit before it became the capital city of the United States.  Or Steve Wynn, who saw himself being the name of  a luxury resort chain while he was a kid in seedy bingo parlors.  See, everyone's talking money and resources and connections, but all those things are first created in a persons spirit.

And you keep seeing that lawn care business, or that investment firm, or that sports career, or that beauty salon, or that pediatric practice, or that homeless shelter...always in your dreams....even when you're awake.  And then, you stop yourself with "don't have enough money", "don't know the right people", and other excuses.  So you just keep allowing that thing to dance around in your head...not realizing that you are the creator, and the creation is waiting on you.

Man and woman of God, yes you with your humble and faithful selves; allow that which is in your spirit to come under submission of The Lord God Almighty in faith, evidenced by your speech, actions, and demeanor.  Be productive under the authority that He has given you.  And be prosperous in your desire to bring much needed fruit to a dying world.

Peace
