So all the the businessmen and the leaders of the area went to Reverend Sam's house and demanded, "Look, you're getting up there in age and all of your sons are off da chain. Ain't no way they can guide us to do anything. So we need you to give us a king like the rest of the countries got."
Sam was blown that they even had the heart to ask for a king. Later on, he prayed to God about the situation. The Lord said to Sam, "Listen to everything they told you, 'cause they don't have no beef with you, they're just not cool with Me being their leader. They've been like this since I got 'em out of slavery." - 1 Samuel 8:4-8, Jones Version
Every Christian believer, from the hardcore to the so-so gets this type of opportunity; the one where they get to showcase where they really stand concerning their faith. Some people are rock solid in their actions and don't waver an inch. Most of us, however do slide. There is a portion of the latter population that actually repents and commits to do better. Meanwhile, others make excuses for their moves (i.e. only God can judge me and all have sinned...) and keep it rolling. A real live one is brewing right now.
So yesterday, the African-American of...well...all-time, made it pretty clear that he doesn't agree with everything that the Word of God says, solidifying himself as yet another politician. But he also opened the can for something much more important and also obvious, if one pays attention. That would be that there are many Christians who are Christians to a point...and when that point is crossed then all bets are off. Here, we see that the President's die-hards' point has been approached, as they are fearlessly defending his support of establishing homosexual families and are pushing their Bible under the couch cushion, at least until Election Night.
I'll be brief. You 16 year-old-girls-now-40-something-year-old women who still vote for the cutest guy for class president; and 16 year-old-boys-now-40-something men who vote for whoever the girls are voting for, you claim you will always support the President...it might be time that your support comes in the form of praying that he seeks for a repentant heart. For if he truly believes in his statement,it's critical for the country that he revise his thinking. I mean, if he can reveal his stance on the sexual morality addressed throughout 1 Corinthians (passages 5:9-10, 6:9, and 7:2), what other evil does he believe in? And if he was just saying that to get votes, then ladies and gentlemen, we got a real snake on our hands. Either way, the lessor of two evils is starting to look more even.
But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose this day who you will serve (Joshua 24:15).
Peace
